About the position

The Business Operations Analyst position at PPL Corporation is a critical role responsible for analyzing and solving complex business processes and technical problems with a focus on enhancing operational effectiveness and excellence. The successful candidate will prepare and deliver well-structured business insights to management, lead teams, and improve the understanding of business processes and systems across the organization. This role is designed for a well-organized self-starter who is passionate about optimizing decision-making processes through rigorous data utilization. In this position, the analyst will extract and deliver useful statistics and insights from business data to support operational improvements and business strategies. The role requires proactive identification and implementation of solutions and strategies that align with the company's short and long-term objectives. The analyst will prepare complex financial models and forecasts using advanced modeling techniques, develop high-level analyses, and recommend courses of action based on data insights, presenting findings to Senior Management. Additionally, the analyst will research methods for measuring various areas of business performance, comparing them against industry trends and best practices, and will be responsible for creating detailed documentation of business processes and supporting systems. The role may also involve leading special projects or teams as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Extract and deliver useful statistics and insight from business data to drive operational improvements and business strategies.
  • Proactively identify and implement solutions and/or strategies to help the business achieve its objectives.
  • Prepare complex financial models and forecasting using advanced modeling techniques.
  • Develop high-level analyses, recommend courses of action based on data, and present findings to Senior Management.
  • Research methods for measuring business performance and compare against trends and best practices.
  • Review, identify, analyze, and create detailed documentation of business processes and supporting systems.
  • May lead special projects or teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with five years analytical/problem solving experience OR Master's degree with two years analytical/problem solving experience.
  • Experience with Business Intelligence tools such as SAS, Hyperion, Microstrategy, Tableau, and Hadoop.
  • In-depth knowledge in statistical analysis, economic modeling, and data visualization.
  • Strong analysis, research, and complex problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in MS Suite (Excel, Access, and PowerPoint) or other advanced statistical computer applications.
  • For Lead Business Operations Analyst: Bachelor's degree with seven years analytical/problem solving experience OR Master's degree with four years analytical/problem solving experience.
  • Experience with tools and programming languages such as Python, SQL, PowerBI.
  • Strong competencies in process improvement, change management, and project management.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree in business or a quantitative discipline.
  • Possess an innate curiosity and a strong desire to solve problems.
  • Ability to tell a story from analysis to identify/solve business opportunities.
  • Background in Lean, Six Sigma, or similar process improvement models.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
