About the position

The Business Operations Analyst Lead - Data Analytics at USAA plays a crucial role in supporting decision-making for various Lines of Business and internal leaders through insightful analysis and reporting. This position focuses on managing risks associated with business activities, ensuring compliance, and delivering key insights that drive business value across the Member's Lifecycle. The role requires collaboration with stakeholders to enhance reporting efficiency and effectiveness, while also mentoring junior analysts in the data and analytics community.

Responsibilities

  • Identifies and manages existing and emerging risks stemming from business activities.
  • Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled.
  • Acts as a trusted consultant to the business and IT to identify solutions for complex projects through data reporting and analytics.
  • Accountable for managing the compilation, analysis, and reporting of data; delivers key insights and recommendations on data trends.
  • Maintains best practices as a technical subject matter expert in consulting and advising business partners on analytics solutions.
  • Identifies and pursues opportunities to utilize advanced data delivery techniques to resolve business issues.
  • Proactively interacts with key stakeholders to enhance reporting needs efficiency.
  • Drives and influences stakeholders on approaches for data reporting and analytics deliverables.
  • Applies expertise in information systems and data infrastructure to provide guidance to internal clients.
  • Effectively communicates recommendations to all levels of management and influences strategic direction.
  • Stays updated with industry standards for Business Intelligence and shares best practices with the team.
  • Develops tailored presentation materials and presents complex analytics solutions in common business terminology.
  • Mentors and provides guidance to junior analysts to enhance their technical acumen.
  • Maintains knowledge of emerging technologies and their application toward business solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in STEM or related discipline, or 4 years of related experience in lieu of degree.
  • 8 years of reporting and/or data management experience with accountability for complex tasks, or an advanced degree with 6 years of experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of data querying, wrangling, report development, and requirements gathering.
  • Proven experience with data mining, complex data manipulation, and translating insights into business solutions.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to influence management effectively.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of compliance and regulatory data requirements.

Nice-to-haves

  • Proven experience presenting recommendations to Senior Executives.
  • 4+ years' experience with data analysis in a financial or planning environment.
  • Understanding of data analysis, forecasting, and reporting methodologies.
  • Knowledge of project management tools and strategies.
  • Experience working with data-oriented business teams.
