About the position

The Member Data & Analytics Portfolio team at USAA is focused on providing decision support through insightful analysis and reporting for various Lines of Business and internal leaders. This role involves managing the portfolio of epics across the Member's Journey, ensuring effective communication of commitments, and improving milestone predictability and execution readiness. The position offers an opportunity to contribute directly to delivering business value across the Member's Lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Identifies and manages existing and emerging risks associated with business activities.
  • Ensures risks are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled.
  • Acts as a trusted consultant to identify solutions for complex projects through data reporting and analytics.
  • Manages the compilation, analysis, and reporting of data, delivering key insights and recommendations.
  • Maintains best practices as a technical subject matter expert in business analytics and decision support solutions.
  • Identifies opportunities to utilize advanced data delivery techniques to resolve business issues.
  • Interacts with key stakeholders to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of reporting needs.
  • Drives and influences stakeholders on approaches for data reporting and analytics.
  • Applies expertise in information systems and data infrastructure to provide guidance to internal clients.
  • Communicates recommendations effectively to all levels of management.
  • Stays updated with industry standards for Business Intelligence and shares best practices.
  • Develops tailored presentation materials and presents complex analytics solutions in common terminology.
  • Mentors junior analysts to enhance their technical acumen in data and analytics.
  • Maintains knowledge of emerging technologies and their application toward business solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) or related discipline, or 4 years of related experience may substitute for degree.
  • 8 years of reporting and/or data management experience with accountability for complex tasks, leveraging tools like SQL, Python, GGplot, Tableau, or an advanced degree with 6 years of experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of data querying, wrangling, report development, and requirements gathering.
  • Proven experience with data mining, complex data manipulation, and translating insights into business solutions.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to influence management.

Nice-to-haves

  • Proven experience presenting recommendations to Senior Executives.
  • 4+ years' experience with data analysis for a Data and analytics portfolio in a financial or planning environment.
  • Understanding of data analysis, forecasting, and reporting methodologies.
  • Knowledge of project management tools and strategies.
  • Experience working with business data-oriented teams.
  • Analytical, detail-oriented, and strong critical thinking skills.
