About the position

The Business Systems Analyst Level 2 position within the Student Affairs Information Technology (SAIT) department is designed to provide support and assist in the analysis of various Student Affairs Systems. This includes systems that are limited to moderately complex, such as Student Information Systems, Degree Audit Reporting System (DARS), Student Records Systems, and other Student Affairs Department Systems. The role requires the application of intermediate knowledge in business and process analysis functions as they relate to these systems. The analyst will be responsible for creating and maintaining sketches, workflow diagrams, wireframes, and mock-ups based on models developed during the department's discovery process. Additionally, the analyst will assist in analyzing and resolving production system problems within Student Affairs systems and campus systems. The position demands a strong understanding of project management and business systems analysis, as well as problem-solving skills. The analyst will need to define testing procedures and rigorously execute them, prototype user-interface solutions, and design systems that meet user needs. The role also requires intermediate knowledge of various programming languages and tools, including HTML, SQL, Visual Basic, and JavaScript, among others. The ability to work effectively with diverse groups, manage competing deadlines, and communicate clearly in both written and oral forms is essential. The position operates within a structured schedule from Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and requires adherence to specific employment conditions, including background checks.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support and assist in analysis for Student Affairs Systems.
  • Create and maintain sketches, workflow diagrams, wireframes, and mock-ups based on department discovery models.
  • Assist in analyzing and resolving production system problems in Student Affairs systems and campus systems.
  • Develop general business requirements, specifying and designing inputs and outputs.
  • Produce system and programming specifications and requirements, recommending modifications to existing programs and processes.
  • Complete feasibility studies of projects and analyze functional processes.
  • Define testing procedures and rigorously carry out such procedures.
  • Prototype and design user-interface solutions to user problems.
  • Schedule production reports and utilize PC software including MS Office and Adobe products.
  • Develop business systems analysis artifacts, such as wireframes, use cases, and process models.

Requirements

  • Intermediate knowledge of managing limited to moderately complex operational systems.

  • Intermediate knowledge of user-interface design patterns and prototyping tools.
  • Intermediate knowledge of complex online interactive systems and scheduling production reports.
  • Intermediate knowledge of HTML, SQL, Visual Basic, and JavaScript or related programming languages.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills to work effectively with diverse groups.
