About the position

The Business Operations Coordinator for the Department of Public Safety (DPS) at UNMC is responsible for overseeing all administrative support and office management functions to ensure the efficient operation of the department. This role requires excellent independent judgment to manage a diverse workload, ensuring that the objectives of the DPS and the University are met. The coordinator will manage financial record keeping, budget reviews, hiring processes, payroll, travel functions, equipment management, and coordination with various departments and external organizations. Additionally, the coordinator will train and supervise staff, ensuring quality customer service and leading a culture of transparency within the department.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all administrative support and office management needs for the Department of Public Safety.
  • Manage financial record keeping, budget reviews, and departmental payroll.
  • Coordinate travel functions and equipment management.
  • Process lost and found items and manage departmental communications with UNO and UNMC Accounting, Budget, Finance, and HR Departments.
  • Train, supervise, mentor, and evaluate office personnel and student workers.
  • Ensure quality customer service and lead the department culture of transparency.
  • Function as the main administrative contact for the department and work on special projects.
  • Coordinate with departments throughout the university system and with outside organizations such as the Omaha Police Department and Nebraska State Patrol.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree required.
  • 6 years of increasingly responsible administrative experience, including some supervisory/management experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, SAP, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to multi-task and organize workload by priorities.
  • Demonstrated leadership and teamwork skills.
  • Excellent analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of state statutes, employment laws, healthcare regulations, and policies.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and apply extensive theoretical information within a professional field.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience with PeopleSoft and Adobe Developer preferred.
