About the position

The Business Director of Operations (BOD) at Movement Schools plays a crucial role in managing all non-instructional aspects of school administration, allowing the principal to focus on student achievement and teacher development. This position involves overseeing the school's budget, operations, and administration, ensuring compliance with laws and policies, and leading a diverse team of operations professionals. The BOD is responsible for creating systems that support the school's mission of academic excellence and character development, while also engaging with families and the community.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage the school's annual budget in collaboration with the principal and finance staff.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and participate in monthly budget review meetings.
  • Ensure compliance with fiscal policies and assist in the annual financial audit process.
  • Oversee the school purchasing process and manage inventory of supplies and materials.
  • Prepare the campus for the new school year by ordering necessary equipment and supplies.
  • Process new hires and maintain employee records, ensuring compliance with employment laws.
  • Manage custodial personnel and third-party contracts for facility maintenance.
  • Coordinate food, transportation, and health services for students.
  • Lead all aspects of school operations, including schedules, payroll, and benefits administration.
  • Oversee student recruitment efforts to ensure fiscal solvency of the school.
  • Ensure timely implementation of administrative tasks and compliance with reporting requirements.
  • Plan and execute school events and oversee student testing administration.
  • Supervise a diverse team of operations professionals and lead professional development sessions.
  • Communicate regularly with families about school policies and events, and build relationships with community organizations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited 4-year institution.
  • Minimum 3 years of operations management experience in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience managing cross-functional teams to develop and implement systems and processes.
  • Strong financial oversight and budgetary tracking skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, flexible environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree preferred.
  • School-based or other educational experience preferred.
  • Experience managing others preferred.
