About the position

The Business Operations & HR Coordinator (Public Service Manager I) is responsible for overseeing and coordinating administrative support functions within the Office of the State Auditor. This role involves managing human resource needs, personnel actions, and various operational tasks to ensure efficient office management. The coordinator will work in a dynamic environment, supporting approximately 30-35 employees while prioritizing work-life balance and professional growth.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and coordinate administrative support functions for the Office of the State Auditor.
  • Manage human resource needs including hiring, recruitment, retention, and employee relations.
  • Serve as the Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Coordinator, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations.
  • Handle accounting, budgeting, purchasing, and vendor management tasks.
  • Prepare and process budget and financial orders, and assist in budget submissions.
  • Communicate effectively with external parties and OSA personnel.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a closely related field.
  • 6 years of progressively responsible experience in administrative management, including budget, finance, and personnel management.
  • Knowledge of human resources policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Experience with governmental accounting and fund accounting.

Nice-to-haves

  • Working knowledge of the State of Maine's human resource laws, policies, rules, and regulations.
  • Experience with information systems for accounting and human resources.
