About the position

The Business Operations and HR Coordinator serves as the primary coordinator of administrative and human resource support for the Office of the State Auditor in Augusta, Maine. This role involves overseeing various personnel actions, including hiring, recruitment, performance management, and employee relations, while also managing accounting, budgeting, and procurement functions. The position is crucial for ensuring efficient operations within the office and requires a strong understanding of human resource management principles and public administration.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and coordinate administrative support functions of the Office of the State Auditor.
  • Manage personnel actions such as hiring, recruitment, and retention.
  • Administer position and salary management, performance management, and employee relations.
  • Act as the Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Coordinator, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Handle accounting, budgeting, purchasing, and vendor management tasks.
  • Prepare and process budget and financial orders, and assist in budget submissions.
  • Communicate effectively with external parties and OSA personnel.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a closely related field.
  • 6 years of progressively responsible experience in administrative management, including budget, finance, and personnel management.
  • Knowledge of human resources policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Experience with governmental accounting and fund accounting principles.

Nice-to-haves

  • Working knowledge of the State of Maine's human resource laws, policies, rules, and regulations.
  • Experience with information systems for accounting and human resources.
