About the position

The Business Operations Manager (BOM) for the Dental Faculty Practice at UMKC School of Dentistry is responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of the business office while supporting patient care. This role involves overseeing financial viability, managing staff, and enhancing patient experiences through operational excellence and effective financial coordination.

Responsibilities

• Independently run a financially viable Dental Faculty Practice.
• Model the culture, values, and standards of UMKC to promote a positive internal environment.
• Assess, hire, and retain team members through training and supervision.
• Conduct performance appraisals for business support and clinical staff.
• Investigate and resolve staff and patient issues with effective solutions.
• Manage expenses to achieve monthly goals and budget while driving revenue growth.
• Ensure excellent patient experiences through personalized care.
• Audit accounts for accuracy on a daily and weekly basis.
• Assist with month-end processes and generate necessary financial reports.
• Reconcile deposits and manage patient refunds.
• Oversee accounts receivable, accounts payable, and inventory management.
• Manage relationships with insurance billing partners and oversee credentialing for providers.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• At least 4 years of relevant experience.
• Supervisory experience in a dental or healthcare setting.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience working in a Dental Service Organization or similar dental practice.
• Previous supervisory experience in a healthcare environment.
