About the position

The Business Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the SBF Finance team, managing performance, and ensuring effective coordination of work assignments. This role involves developing talent through training and mentorship, refining processes for consistency across programs, and performing complex financial analyses to support various manufacturing and contract activities. The manager will also generate estimates, monitor contract performance, and work with cross-functional teams to improve cost efficiency and contract outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the SBF Finance team, including hiring and performance reviews.
  • Coordinate work assignments and provide day-to-day guidance to financial analysts.
  • Create development plans for analysts to ensure knowledge transfer and continuity.
  • Develop and refine standard processes for consistency across programs.
  • Support the site as the focal point for charging and financial issues.
  • Perform complex financial analyses for manufacturing cost pools and contracts.
  • Generate estimates at completion and monitor contract performance against budget and schedule.
  • Develop program baseline budgets and analyze variances to create risk mitigation plans.
  • Review MRP transactions and validate cost allocations.
  • Calculate weekly performance metrics and manage production pools.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage employees and provide clear direction.
  • Effective trainer and mentor with patience.
  • Strong analytical and computer skills, particularly in Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Access.
  • Experience in various financial functions including estimating and cost control.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree desired.
  • Familiarity with LM/MFC systems and practices.
  • Basic knowledge of the IR industry and cost control experience.
  • Advanced computer skills with Excel and Access.
  • Previous experience with a defense contractor in a similar role.
  • Familiarity with FAR/DFAR regulations.
  • Extensive knowledge of earned value management techniques.
