About the position

The position is responsible for managing the SBF Finance team, which includes hiring and reviewing the performance of team members. The role involves coordinating work assignments, providing day-to-day guidance, and facilitating training and development for financial analysts. A key aspect of this position is to create development plans that help analysts grow their skills and ensure knowledge transfer and continuity within the group. The manager will also develop and refine standard processes to create consistency across various programs and analysts, acting as a focal point for charging and financial issues at the site. In addition to team management, the role requires performing complex financial analyses related to manufacturing cost pools, internal MFC initiatives, SBF outside contracts, and Repair and Depot activities. The manager will generate estimates at completion and monitor contract performance against budget and schedule. This includes developing program baseline budgets, calculating earned value performance, analyzing variances, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to create risk mitigation and recovery plans. The position also involves reviewing Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP) transactions to validate proper cost allocations, calculating weekly performance metrics, and managing production pools. Furthermore, the manager will calculate and update sub-assembly values for focal plane arrays and provide monthly status reports for all SBF Financial Exposure Authorizations. The work environment is fast-paced, supporting multiple programs with competing deadlines. The manager is expected to work proactively with multifunctional teams to reduce product costs and improve contract performance, ensuring that the team meets its objectives efficiently and effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the SBF Finance team, including hiring and performance reviews.
  • Coordinate work assignments and provide day-to-day guidance to financial analysts.

  • Act as the focal point for charging and financial issues at the site.
  • Perform complex financial analyses for manufacturing cost pools and internal initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage employees and provide clear direction.
  • Effective trainer and mentor with patience.
  • Strong analytical and computer skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Access).
  • Experience in various financial functions including estimating and cost control.
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks concurrently.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Self-starter and motivated individual who works effectively with all levels of personnel.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree desired.
  • Familiarity with LM/MFC systems, practices, and procedures.
  • Basic knowledge of the IR industry and experience with cost control.
  • Advanced computer skills with Excel and Access.
  • Previous experience working for a defense contractor in a similar position.
  • Familiarity with FAR/DFAR regulations.
  • Extensive knowledge of earned value management techniques and concepts.
  • Top Secret clearance or ability to obtain one is a plus.
