About the position

The Business Operations Manager for Surgical Services at Allina Health System is responsible for overseeing the administrative and operational activities within the surgical services department. This role involves direct supervision of support staff, ensuring efficient surgical scheduling and billing operations, and leading process improvement initiatives to enhance service delivery. The manager will collaborate with various stakeholders to maintain optimal staffing and financial performance while supporting the overall mission of providing exceptional patient care.

Responsibilities

• Supervise employees and manage staff performance through feedback, recognition, and accountability.
• Hire and onboard new staff as needed, and train and orient employees to maintain competencies.
• Maintain scheduling, time off approval, and time card sign-off for staff.
• Oversee surgical scheduling and billing operations, ensuring processes function efficiently.
• Manage block schedules and room availability to maximize capacity and staffing efficiency.
• Work with surgeons to accommodate requests and enforce requirements.
• Ensure accurate and timely documentation in areas impacting patient billing.
• Support surgical services process improvement initiatives and apply performance improvement methodologies.
• Collaborate with the finance department to monitor cost center financial performance relative to budget.
• Identify and communicate risks, variances, and opportunities in financial performance.
• Lead surgical advanced analytics and oversee department metrics and data analytics.
• Support the enhancement of analytical skills for the surgical leadership team.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in business or related field.
• 3+ years of experience related to procedural scheduling and billing.
• 2+ years of supervisory experience.

Nice-to-haves

• Master's degree in health administration, business administration, or related field.
• 3+ years of experience specific to surgical services operations, surgical procedures and patterns, surgical billing, and data analytics.
