About the position

The Business Operations Manager at the Rhode Island Nurses Institute Middle College is responsible for overseeing and enhancing all business operations within the school. This includes managing processes related to purchasing, accounting, human resources, IT, and the lunch program. The role supports the leadership team and collaborates with the Head of School/Principal to ensure financial decisions align with the school's objectives. The position is crucial for maintaining operational efficiency and compliance with various regulations while contributing to the school's mission of preparing a diverse nursing workforce.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and improve all business operations including processes, purchasing, accounting, human resources, IT, and the lunch program.
  • Utilize Abila MIP Fund Accounting 100 software to maintain the general ledger and create interim financial statements for the Board of Directors.
  • Reconcile bank and credit card statements monthly and process payroll accurately.
  • Manage the purchasing process and ensure compliance with purchasing procedures.
  • Collect enrollment reports and create invoices for Districts based on enrollment data.
  • Oversee vendor relationships and ensure compliance with service agreements.
  • Coordinate student transportation and manage the in-house food service program.
  • Facilitate payroll change requests and maintain accurate HR records.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and manage employee benefits.
  • Maintain accurate inventory of technology and manage student activity funds.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Management, or related fields required.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in business operations, accounting, or related fields preferred.
  • Strong background in Abila Fund Accounting 100 and Microsoft Office applications required.
  • Experience in K-12 school settings preferred.
  • Prior experience in budget management, accounting, operations management, and personnel administration preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bilingual skills are a plus.
  • Experience with ADP payroll and HRIS systems is highly preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and data reporting skills.
