About the position

The Business Operations Manager at Western University of Health Sciences will provide comprehensive operational, financial, human resources, and management support for the Office of the President. This role involves liaising with various university colleges and departments, as well as external partners, to ensure effective execution of projects and events. The position requires a collaborative approach and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment, while maintaining confidentiality and accuracy in all assignments.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Vice President and Chief of Staff in developing and monitoring budgets for the Office of the President.
  • Generate payment requisitions, purchase orders, budget & cash transfers, and maintain record keeping for financial transactions.
  • Work collaboratively on budget and financial projections, proposals, and reports, including preparing quarterly reports and resolving budget operation issues.
  • Manage personnel-related items, including drafting position descriptions and facilitating the recruitment process for vacant positions.
  • Coordinate and execute pre-meeting arrangements, create meeting agendas, and track follow-up items for the President.
  • Serve as a member of University Committees on behalf of the Office of the President and provide support to work groups and committees led by the President.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the President.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Organizational Management or related field required.
  • 2-4 years experience in supporting business operations, preferably in an academic environment.
  • Excellent computer skills including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Banner, and Self-Service.
  • Strong organizational skills to prioritize workload and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and handle detail-oriented assignments with accuracy.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in an academic environment is preferred.
  • Advanced mathematical skills, including the ability to design and manage complex Excel spreadsheets.
