About the position

The Business Operations Manager at the University of Vermont will oversee, manage, and perform administrative and business operations for the Instrumentation and Technical Services (ITS) department. This role is crucial in ensuring the smooth functioning of financial systems, which includes providing analysis, budgeting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, tax reporting, forecasting, and financial reporting functions. The manager will also be responsible for human resource management, which encompasses position posting, recruitment, onboarding, compliance management, and administering related organizational processes. Additionally, the manager will lead a performance excellence team and oversee staff who monitor and manage the HEMS Best Practice Equipment Management system. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness within the department.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage administrative/business operations for the ITS department.
  • Implement and manage financial systems including budgeting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, tax reporting, forecasting, and financial reporting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with coursework in financial management and information systems.
  • Two to four years of related experience in business operations or management.
  • Effective customer service and communication skills.
  • Supervisory and computer skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with PeopleSoft, PeopleAdmin, Axiom, and MS Office.
