About the position

The Business Operations Manager at PayPal is a key role focused on enhancing operational efficiency within the Small/Medium Business & Financial Services (SMB-FS) Engineering team. This position involves strategic workforce planning, budget management, and fostering a data-driven culture to support decision-making processes. The manager will collaborate with various teams to ensure smooth operations and contribute to the overall strategic direction of the company.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to and execute on Workforce Strategy.
  • Align workforce allocation according to strategic priorities and executed within Workforce Planning.
  • Provide requirements to Workforce Planning for analysis against strategic initiatives to allow decision-making.
  • Partner with Finance for budget enablement.
  • Partner with leadership and PMO to create operating plan, goals and objectives, aligned with company's strategic direction and priorities.
  • Build a culture of data-driven decision-making by developing, maintaining, and reporting Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and other metrics.
  • Develop messaging, ranging from internal communications to presentations.
  • Execute Employee Engagement efforts in partnership with HR.
  • Develop and implement best practices across operating rhythms and routines.
  • Facilitate operating cadences such as staff meetings, operational reviews, town halls, leadership offsites, AMAs as required.
  • Coordinate forums for check-ins with teams, engineering, product, and as needed.
  • Drive Technical Platform programs/projects in collaboration with engineering leaders.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in planning, business operations or technical project management.
  • 10+ years of experience delivering projects.
  • Strong MS Excel & PowerPoint skills.
  • High delivery focus with an emphasis on task ownership and completion.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; proven ability to work effectively with all organization levels.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple projects with competing priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt to change, comfortable dealing with ambiguity and uncertainty.
  • Ability to work well in a cross-functional, matrixed management environment.
  • Ability to establish credibility and rapport with senior executives and technical and non-technical team members alike.
  • Ability to balance business partnership with the need to exercise independent judgment and to raise issues in a timely and constructive manner.
  • Ability to influence and achieve alignment across a range of different opinions and interests.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field is required.
