About the position

The Business Operations Specialist - Advanced position is designed to support the business operations process for the New Mexico Law Enforcement Academy. This role involves a variety of administrative tasks including information collection, stakeholder communication, and fiscal support, ensuring that the operations align with the agency's mission objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Support the business operations process including information collection and tracking.
  • Organize information and facilitate stakeholder communication.
  • Manage contracting, travel approval, and reimbursement processes.
  • Handle requisitions, purchasing, and budgeting tasks.
  • Provide first line administrative support for the New Mexico Law Enforcement Academy.
  • Ensure timely, professional, and confidential support to instructor managers and management team.
  • Respond to correspondence with accuracy and timeliness.
  • Provide fiscal support including budget reviews and contract routing.
  • Create requisitions and payment packets, and run budget reports.

Requirements

  • Experience in business operations or administrative support roles.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to operate independently.
  • Excellent customer service skills, including communication via electronic, written, and phone correspondence.
  • Familiarity with budget management and fiscal support processes.
  • Ability to interact effectively with staff, customers, vendors, and constituents.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working in a law enforcement or criminal justice environment.
  • Knowledge of state purchasing and contracting procedures.
