About the position

As a Business Operations Specialist within the Department of Homeland Security's Immigration and Customs Enforcement, specifically in the Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) division, you will play a crucial role in supporting the operational needs of the agency. This position is located in Fairfax, Virginia, and is classified as a non-bargaining unit position. Your primary responsibilities will involve consulting with program staff to identify their needs and ensure that mission requirements are met effectively. You will be tasked with reviewing contractor payment requests, approving and recommending vendor payments based on your delegated authority, and closely monitoring the cost, schedule, and performance parameters of all assigned contracts. Additionally, you will coordinate with the Contracting Officer to ensure that procurement process timelines are adhered to, which is vital for maintaining operational efficiency and compliance with federal regulations. In this role, you will be expected to demonstrate a high level of expertise in contracting and procurement processes. You will assist in the development of acquisition packages and provide technical support for both pre-award and post-award activities. Your ability to conduct studies and develop recommendations based on your findings will be essential in optimizing contract performance and ensuring that the agency's operational goals are achieved. This position requires a strong understanding of federal contracting regulations and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders to facilitate successful contract management. The position is full-time and permanent, with a potential probationary period of one year upon appointment. Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. citizen to apply for this position.
  • Must successfully pass a background investigation.
  • Must successfully pass a drug screen.
  • Current Federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade in the Federal service.
  • One year of specialized experience at the GS-11 grade level or equivalent for GS-12 qualification.
  • One year of specialized experience at the GS-12 grade level or equivalent for GS-13 qualification.
