About the position

The Business Performance Analyst plays a crucial role in supporting the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority's capital planning and program management efforts. This position involves collecting, analyzing, and communicating performance measure data to assist Metro leadership in making informed investment decisions. The analyst will engage with various stakeholders to understand asset risks and prioritize investment needs, contributing to the overall effectiveness of Metro's $11B capital program.

Responsibilities

  • Collect, analyze, document, and prepare internal reports on performance measures to evaluate departmental effectiveness.
  • Conduct root-cause analysis on performance measures not meeting targets and document impacted business processes.
  • Prepare and communicate performance analysis results and recommendations using tables, graphs, and presentations.
  • Gather feedback from managers on performance reporting needs and summarize for leadership review.
  • Compile program performance data and customer comments for monthly key performance indicator (KPI) reports.
  • Support business plan development by interviewing managers and documenting core services and performance measures.
  • Analyze departmental annual operating budget submissions and monthly expense trends to ensure compliance with budget.
  • Prepare cost analysis reports to determine best pricing for office supplies and vendor services.
  • Perform high-level analysis of transit data for trends in safety and assist in quality assurance audits.
  • Serve as an internal consultant to leadership regarding data results and process improvement.
  • Coordinate updates to the Department Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP) and assist in compliance drills.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics/Statistics, Data Science, Financial Management, Economics, Public-Business Administration, Engineering, Political Science, Planning, or a related field.
  • In lieu of a Bachelor's Degree, a High School Diploma/GED and four years of quantitative analysis experience will be considered.
  • A minimum of four years of experience in quantitative analysis, analytical problem solving, metric development, data modeling, and visualization.
