About the position

The Business Process Engineer at FWDthink, LLC is responsible for analyzing, redesigning, and implementing new business processes for the Federal DHS client. The role aims to achieve significant improvements in performance, quality, cost, service, and speed by systematically assessing and enhancing existing processes. The engineer will work closely with business users and stakeholders to develop improved processes, lead requirements gathering sessions, and ensure effective implementation of changes.

Responsibilities

  • Assess existing processes to identify weaknesses and gaps.
  • Design new processes and systems to enhance performance.
  • Test and prototype new designs before implementation.
  • Rethink roles of third parties or outsourcing and restructure departments as needed.
  • Make consistent improvements to operations and adapt to fundamental flaws in current processes.
  • Collect, analyze, and document business rules and processes.
  • Lead business requirements gathering sessions for complex system development projects.
  • Prepare and review detailed functional specifications for IT systems development or enhancement projects.
  • Assist with system testing and planning of system changes.
  • Participate in the creation of training materials.

Requirements

  • 5 years of experience with developing business and functional requirements and writing use cases in specific industry or company type.
  • 8 years of experience with business process re-engineering (BPR).
  • 8 years of experience in business change management.
  • Experience with waterfall and/or agile software development methodologies.
