About the position

The Business Process Engineer will partner with customers at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard to develop and implement new technologies and innovations. The role focuses on enhancing methods and tools to improve effectiveness and outcomes, ensuring alignment with NAVSEA initiatives. The engineer will manage communications, customer expectations, and deliverables while primarily working on-site at the customer location.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support including 3D CAD drawings and innovation research to resolve problems at the Shipyard.
  • Facilitate and lead planning, execution, and close-out actions for various meetings and strategic planning sessions.
  • Provide tools and methods to aid decision making, program management, and action planning.
  • Support and coordinate with NNSY customers in preparation of documentation and deliverables.
  • Support NAVSEA initiatives through portfolio management and action tracking.
  • Execute contract requirements, including submission of supporting data and timely completion of reports.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering and a minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience, or 8 years of directly applicable work experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Experience using 2D/3D CAD software, specifically Autodesk products.
  • Demonstrated project management, research, and facilitation skills.
  • Strong customer service orientation and excellent written/verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and effective time management skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience facilitating meetings attended by senior leadership.
  • Training, certification, and/or experience in Agile, Lean, Six Sigma, Shingo, or Theory of Constraints.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Work experience with the naval maintenance community, the US Navy, or the Department of Defense.
