About the position

The Business Process Re-Engineering (BPR) Architect at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) will lead the establishment of a laboratory capability focused on business process re-engineering, particularly around ERP initiatives. This role involves collaborating with key stakeholders to redesign and simplify business processes, driving improvements in productivity, quality, and employee satisfaction. The BPR Architect will serve as a change agent, fostering a culture of operational excellence and continuous improvement while ensuring the successful implementation of process engineering disciplines across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the establishment of a laboratory capability around business process re-engineering.
  • Engage with key stakeholders to understand current practices and define a standard approach for BPR.
  • Serve as a change agent to implement a culture of operational excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Support the development of others in the discipline of BPR through training, coaching, and mentoring.
  • Define the ERP Program's process re-engineering strategy and conduct comprehensive analyses of existing business processes.
  • Document current workflows, dependencies, and pain points through process mapping techniques.
  • Collaborate with business transformation analysts to redesign processes and eliminate non-value-added activities.
  • Work closely with Solutions Architecture to align on capabilities for process redesign efforts.
  • Support change management and stakeholder engagement for significant process changes.
  • Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to track improvements in productivity and quality.

Requirements

  • BS/BA and 11 years of relevant experience -OR- MS/MA or higher and 9 years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading business process re-engineering in large, complex initiatives, especially ERP implementations.
  • Ability to build trusting relationships with leaders at all levels of the organization.
  • Experience in partnering with change management, communications, and user experience disciplines.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to influence others and move toward a common vision or goal.
  • Familiarity with Agile project management approaches and tools.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with reliability analytics or performance monitoring tools such as causal analysis, statistical analysis, and Lean/Six Sigma.
  • Passionate about mentoring and developing staff.
  • Organized with a natural inclination for planning strategy and tactics.
