About the position

As a Business Relationship Manager Senior Acquisition banker in Business Banking, you will be responsible for developing and managing a portfolio of large, profitable business clients with annual revenues exceeding approximately $3 million. This role is centered around business development, where you will focus on acquiring new clients, deepening product utilization, and gaining referrals to enhance the primary bank share. Your primary objective will be to provide a high-touch experience by building strong relationships and offering tailored financial advice, all while maintaining a keen focus on client experience and risk management. In this position, you will manage a portfolio of around 40 business clients and 60 prospects, all of whom are in a growth or expansion stage. You will provide comprehensive business deposit and cash management solutions, as well as manage business credit opportunities of up to $15 million. Additionally, you will support branch-based business bankers on significant business credit deals as necessary. Your role will also involve delivering an outstanding experience to Chase business clients by customizing banking solutions to meet their specific financial needs and circumstances. To grow your portfolio, you will actively prospect for new clients whose businesses are expanding, utilizing extensive referral networks and centers of influence to identify and pursue potential new business clients. Building a strong referral network internally will be crucial, as you will partner with various departments such as Private Bank, Asset Wealth Management, and Middle Market to identify new opportunities. You will leverage your knowledge of diverse business types, industries, and financial concepts to develop your business network and prospects effectively. Your responsibilities will also include developing relationships with clients and prospects through in-person and virtual interactions to understand their needs and develop comprehensive financial relationships. You will need to understand the personal financial goals of business owners and collaborate with various banking partners to deliver appropriate personal financial solutions. Ensuring a seamless onboarding experience for clients and leveraging your service team to provide an outstanding client experience will be key aspects of your role. Finally, you will be expected to protect the firm by adhering to sound risk management protocols and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Acquire, retain and deepen a portfolio of approximately 40 business clients and 60 prospects in a growth/expansion stage with annual revenue greater than ~$3 million.
  • Provide business deposit and cash management solutions and manage business credit opportunities up to $15 million.
  • Deliver an outstanding experience to Chase business clients by providing comprehensive and customized business banking solutions tailored to their financial needs.
  • Grow portfolio by prospecting for new clients whose businesses are in expansion mode.
  • Utilize extensive referral networks and centers of influence to identify and pursue potential new business clients.
  • Develop strong referral network internally in partnership with Private Bank, Asset Wealth Management, Middle Market and One Chase to identify new opportunities.
  • Leverage knowledge of diverse types of businesses, industries, markets, financial and economic concepts to develop business network and prospects.
  • Develop relationships with clients, prospects and centers of influence through in-person/virtual calls to understand their needs.
  • Utilize knowledge of personal banking products and partner with Branch, Wealth Management and Private Bank to identify and deliver appropriate personal financial solutions.
  • Partner with product specialists to ensure clients are onboarded seamlessly with end-to-end delivery of new accounts and full suite of products and services.
  • Protect the firm by following sound risk management protocols and control policies and adhering to regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a Business Banking Relationship Management role or related business lending experience.
  • Strong current business network; active involvement in community organizations such as Chambers of Commerce, non-profit boards.
  • Demonstrates strong tactical business development and negotiation skills.
  • Self-directed, proactive, and creative; uses sound judgment and navigates ambiguity to get things done.
  • Strong relationship-building and excellent communication skills with individuals at all levels, internally and externally.
  • Ability to influence others to achieve desired outcomes and leverage technology to interact with clients effectively and efficiently.
  • Strong knowledge of deposit and cash management products and services, and knowledge of business credit underwriting with commercial credit training.
  • Uses seasoned judgment to offer comprehensive and customized solutions that best meet client needs; monitors and researches market/industry trends and business outcomes to anticipate client needs; presents proactive solutions and innovative alternatives when appropriate.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage, prioritize, work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years' managing clients >$10 MM revenue.
  • In-depth knowledge of diverse types of businesses, industries, markets, financial and economic concepts.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
