About the position

The Business Research Librarian and Assistant Librarian at Elon University plays a crucial role in supporting the information literacy and research needs of students and faculty in the Love School of Business. This position involves developing innovative outreach initiatives, providing library instruction, and assisting with scholarly communication efforts. The librarian will collaborate with faculty, conduct workshops, and offer individual consultations to enhance the research capabilities of the campus community.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as library liaison to the Love School of Business, collaborating with faculty on collection development, instruction, and research assistance.
  • Plan and conduct library instruction sessions, creating course-specific research guides and interactive exercises to engage students.
  • Solicit faculty requests for library materials and manage the liaison budget to support curricular development.
  • Communicate library resources and policies to faculty and students, and maintain relationships with teaching faculty.
  • Assist the campus community in understanding research metrics and scholarly impact through workshops and consultations.
  • Provide consistent, professional service at library service points, both in-person and virtually.
  • Participate in professional development and contribute to the profession of librarianship through networking and publishing.

Requirements

  • Master's degree from an ALA-accredited program in library and/or information science.
  • Subject background in business through professional experience or relevant coursework.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and independently in a library setting.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Interest in data analytics, data literacy, and data visualization in the business field.
  • Knowledge of current trends in scholarly communications, including open educational resources (OER) and open access.
