About the position

The Business Risk and Control Sr Officer I is a strategic role within the U.S. Personal Banking & Wealth Financial Crimes & Fraud Prevention (FCFP) Control organization, which focuses on designing, developing, and maintaining controls to prevent and mitigate financial crimes. This position requires a high level of expertise and communication skills to influence and guide internal stakeholders, ensuring effective risk management practices are implemented across the organization. The role is accountable for significant business results and involves staff management responsibilities, including resource allocation and team oversight.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate all governance meetings and support USPB, Wealth, and SMB Fraud and Financial Crimes.
  • Ensure the quality, completeness, and accuracy of the Control Framework implementation.
  • Identify issue root causes and recommend corrective actions in partnership with control and process owners.
  • Direct teams in implementing the Lessons Learned Policy and monitor control breaches.
  • Support management in reviewing and challenging the design and management of controls to mitigate risks.
  • Assess adherence to the MCA Standard through controls before and after process execution.
  • Assist management in controlling Operational and Compliance Risk according to established policies.
  • Help allocate resources to manage risk exposures across various categories.
  • Monitor and assess risk appetite and exposures against enterprise requirements.
  • Identify, assess, and respond to Operational and Compliance Risk events accurately and timely.
  • Ensure adequate governance and training for managing Risk profiles.
  • Assess risks associated with New Activities and changes to the Business.
  • Support operational risk scenario analysis and stress testing for capital requirements.
  • Coordinate risk and control assessments for various programs and ensure subject matter expertise exists.
  • Ensure risk and control responsibilities are embedded within FLUs and provide training.
  • Guide and influence standards and procedures to support operational and compliance risk management.
  • Apply business knowledge to identify and implement control points and processes.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in risk management or related field.
  • Familiarity with third-party risk models.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
