About the position

The Employment Services Representative markets and promotes the services of the Career Center to employers and other interested parties in the office's territory. This role involves developing and implementing promotional programs, gathering and disseminating labor market information, and providing technical assistance concerning the recruitment of Career Center clients. The representative will establish and maintain working relationships with employers, plan and organize job fairs and recruitment events, and maintain a data bank of information on local employers. Additionally, the representative will assist Career Center staff by soliciting employment opportunities for specific clients.

Responsibilities

  • Market and promote Career Center services and programs to area employers and other interested parties by visiting businesses and other locations.
  • Market Business Services and MassBizWorks to Employers, including grant applications, tax incentives, and other state and federal services.
  • Create, develop, and facilitate presentations to large groups of employers and job seekers to promote Career Center services.
  • Implement programs designed to promote the services of the Career Center through local print and electronic media.
  • Provide technical assistance and act as a problem-solving liaison for employers with unfilled employment opportunities.
  • Actively participate in Career Center teams to improve quality of services to employers and job seekers.
  • Conduct group presentations to explain Career Center/DCS programs and services to various stakeholders.
  • Participate in staff development and cross-training opportunities.

Requirements

  • At least three (3) years of full-time or equivalent part-time professional or paraprofessional experience in business, marketing, recruitment, employment or educational counseling, or a related field.
  • An Associate's degree or higher in a related field may substitute for one (1) year of the required experience.
  • Current and valid motor vehicle driver's license at a class level specific to assignment.

  • Ability to create and facilitate presentations to large groups of employers.
  • Prior experience and success in public speaking and conducting presentations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written expression.
  • Ability to establish rapport and working relationships with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of principles and techniques of human service interviewing.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of principles and practices of conducting workshops.
  • Availability to work nights and/or weekends as necessary.
