About the position

The Business Support Specialist at Arapahoe County Department of Human Services (ACDHS) plays a crucial role in providing administrative support to the Child and Adult Protection Services (CAPS) Division. This position focuses on enhancing the efficiency of operations through effective communication, data management, and community engagement, all while adhering to the department's mission of promoting safety and stability for families.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a liaison between the Administrative Support area and CAPS and other Human Services departments while providing direct clerical support to designated program areas.
  • Collect, review, analyze complex and/or confidential data and prepare reports, charts, and other presentation materials.
  • Respond to, or route non-routine or confidential inquiries from external or internal sources with correspondence or other messaging.
  • Take lead on special projects and participate in program areas process improvements.
  • Record meetings/take notes as needed.
  • Establish community connections and resources for CAPS.
  • Act as a liaison between CAPS and external community partners to share or request information/records.
  • Schedule and coordinate meetings/events.
  • Purchase/order office supplies and track other expenses.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of basic office procedures and equipment; ability to learn various computer software applications, i.e., CBMS, TRAILS, VISION, ICM, etc.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Word, Outlook, and Excel software programs is required.
  • Ability to type 50 wpm.
  • Ability to demonstrate fiscal responsibility.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of professionalism and demonstrate leadership skills.
  • Ability to effectively maintain a high level of communication skills both verbally and in writing and pay high attention to detail.
  • Ability to effectively make independent decisions, multi-task, prioritize and utilize critical thinking skills.
  • Complete 20 hours of relevant training per year.
  • High School or GED equivalent.
  • 4+ years' experience working with the public in a service-related field.
