About the position

The Business System Analyst for the Office of Sponsored Programs at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center is responsible for ensuring data accuracy, managing sponsored projects, and providing support for the digital platform. This role involves analyzing system reports, maintaining the integrity of data, and developing training for end users, all while adhering to federal guidelines and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze system reports to ensure data accuracy and perform corrective actions.
  • Award-sponsored projects within DASH Project and DASH Research System to generate metric reports.
  • Provide analyses of data management and accounting metrics.
  • Support the digital platform by analyzing, updating, and maintaining the Office of Sponsored Programs webpage.
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of data information entered into Cayuse SP and other systems related to sponsored programs activity.
  • Monitor internal controls to enhance data management and data integrity.
  • Develop quality control review processes and correct data entry in coordination with other OSP members.
  • Assist with developing and/or writing standard operating procedures.
  • Record the agreement issuance status in systems as applicable.
  • Identify, evaluate, support, and solve complex issues related to sponsored project logistics.
  • Perform extensive problem analysis, design, system development, and documentation as necessary to complete specific assignments.
  • Manage, monitor, and upgrade the OSP website.
  • Develop and present training to end users to ensure streamlining initiatives.
  • Conduct content audits to eliminate redundant and/or duplicate information.
  • Create appropriate website content aligned with the University and Research's strategy.
  • Maintain a high level of knowledge and understanding of federal guidelines and regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree (transcript required).
  • Two years of experience in sponsored programs administration, data management, business administration, or related field; or a Master's Degree in lieu of experience.
  • Knowledge of rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment in evaluating situations.
  • Ability to apply and explain rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to use word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications, including creating simple functions and macros, tables, and forms.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to proofread and edit for grammar, spelling, syntax, and style; compute, verify, and compare figures; detect discrepancies in information or records.
  • Ability to prepare financial and accounting records.
  • Ability to analyze, consolidate, and interpret accounting data.
  • Ability to compile, organize, interpret, and communicate accounting data and results concisely.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior experience in an academic environment is preferred.
