About the position

Imperial Supplies, a Grainger Company, is seeking a Business Systems Analyst to join our team. This position is crucial in reviewing, analyzing, and evaluating user needs to create systems solutions that align with our overall business strategies. The Business Systems Analyst will work under limited supervision, documenting system requirements, defining scope and objectives, and creating system specifications. This role serves as a vital liaison between IT and users, utilizing both business and technical expertise to ensure that our systems effectively support our operations. In this role, you will be responsible for producing system requirement documentation for systems of average to high complexity. You will leverage existing systems and processes while educating business leaders on best practices. Your ability to create a baseline for process improvements and design future processes will be essential. You will define, perform, and document complex functional configurations, illustrating processes with flowchart-like diagrams that are easily understood by both IT and business managers. Additionally, you will write stories and requirements, ensuring integrity across business units, and maintain use cases. Identifying opportunities in existing business processes will be a key part of your responsibilities, as will building logical data models for reuse and sharing. You will assist in providing insights on backlog prioritization and potential opportunities, helping to define business value for key activities or features. Collaboration is key in this role; you will work with business partners to design, develop, and execute user acceptance testing plans. In partnership with the training department, you will create new training materials and identify needs for cross-functional training. You will also assist in preparing communications to inform and request action related to delivering new capabilities and addressing problems. Finally, you will provide coaching, training, and problem-solving assistance to other analysts, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment.

Responsibilities

  • Review, analyze, and evaluate user needs to produce system requirement documentation for systems with average to high complexity.

  • Assist in providing insight on backlog, prioritization, and additional potential opportunities.
  • Help define business value for key activities or features and share Business Value (BV) with teams and stakeholders.
  • Work with business partners to design, develop, and execute user acceptance testing plans.
  • Create new training materials in collaboration with the training department and identify needs for cross-functional training materials.
  • Prepare communications to inform and request action associated with delivering new capabilities and addressing problems.
  • Provide coaching, training, and problem-solving assistance to other analysts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience and 2-5 years relevant experience.
  • Preferred: Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in business or computer science and 6+ years relevant experience.
