About the position

The New York State Insurance Fund (NYSIF) is seeking a Business Systems Analyst 1/Trainee 1/Trainee 2 (Actuarial) to join its Actuarial Department, specifically within the Experience Rating Board Unit (ERBU). This position is essential for assisting with the expanding responsibilities of the unit, which involves the reporting of Worker's Compensation (WC) data to the New York Compensation Insurance Rating Board (NYCIRB). The selected candidate will engage in various NYCIRB-related tasks, including providing reporting assistance for Unit Statistical Reporting (USR) operations, preparing and submitting Financial Data Calls (FDC), and conducting research to identify discrepancies between USR and FDC reporting. The role also includes developing and maintaining documentation for reporting functions and assisting with special research tasks as needed. The position is full-time, with a workweek from Monday to Friday, and offers a salary range from $52,763 to $86,056 annually. The work hours are from 8:30 AM to 5 PM, with a total of 37.5 hours per week. Telecommuting is allowed, providing flexibility in the work environment. Candidates must meet specific minimum qualifications based on the level of appointment, which may include a bachelor's degree or relevant professional experience in business analysis. Responsibilities

  • Provide reporting assistance for Unit Statistical Reporting (USR) operations and convey information to supervisors regularly.
  • Assist with the preparation, checking, and submission of Financial Data Calls (FDC) to NYCIRB.
  • Conduct necessary research to determine discrepancies between USR and FDC reporting.
  • Assist supervisors in developing and maintaining documentation for various reporting functions.
  • Assist with special research tasks as needed.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

  • For Trainee 1: Reachable on the current Civil Service eligible list, one year of permanent competitive class service in an eligible title, or a bachelor's degree or higher.
  • For Trainee 2: A Juris Doctor, master's or higher degree in a related field, or a bachelor's degree with one year of professional business analysis experience.
  • For journey level: Reachable on the current Civil Service eligible list, one year of permanent competitive class service as a Business Systems Analyst 1, or one year of service in an eligible title with a bachelor's degree and two years of professional business analysis experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly in Excel for data manipulation and reporting.
  • Excellent communication skills to convey data insights effectively.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage changing deadlines and multiple tasks.
