About the position

The Business Systems Analyst Level 3 at The Arthur Ashe Student Health and Wellness Center (The Ashe Center) plays a crucial role in supporting and analyzing various Student Affairs Systems. This position involves working with moderate-to-complex systems, including but not limited to Student Information Systems, Student Health Systems (such as EPIC, Compulink, ProPharrm, and Point and Click), Student Records Systems, and other Student Affairs IT Systems. The incumbent will apply a thorough understanding of business and process analysis functions as they relate to these systems. In this role, the analyst will be responsible for creating and maintaining sketches, workflow diagrams, wireframes, and mock-ups based on models developed during the department's discovery process. The analyst will also analyze and resolve production system problems within Student Affairs systems and campus systems, ensuring that all systems operate efficiently and effectively to support the health and wellness services provided to UCLA students. The Ashe Center is dedicated to delivering high-quality health and wellness services to students, and the Business Systems Analyst will contribute to this mission by ensuring that the underlying systems are robust, user-friendly, and capable of meeting the evolving needs of the student population. This position is eligible for a remote work arrangement within California, allowing for flexibility while maintaining a focus on delivering exceptional service to students.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support and analysis for Student Affairs Systems, including Student Information Systems and Student Health Systems.
  • Create and maintain sketches, workflow diagrams, wireframes, and mock-ups based on department discovery processes.
  • Analyze and resolve production system problems in Student Affairs systems and campus systems.
  • Elicit and develop business requirements, specifying and designing inputs and outputs.
  • Produce system and programming specifications and requirements, recommending modifications to existing programs and processes.
  • Conduct feasibility studies of projects, analyzing functional processes and determining scope.
  • Develop overall system requirements and design detailed inputs and outputs.
  • Define testing procedures and rigorously carry out such procedures.
  • Prototype and design user-interface solutions to user problems, utilizing knowledge of user interface design patterns.
  • Work effectively and diplomatically with diverse groups, including administrators, colleagues, and students.

Requirements

  • 2 years of experience in computer systems, information systems, or a related area.
  • Strong skills in managing operational systems, including guidance, managing scope, setting priorities, and providing feedback.
  • Demonstrated skills in eliciting and developing business requirements and producing system specifications.
  • Strong project management, business systems analysis, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to define testing procedures and carry out such procedures rigorously.
  • Thorough knowledge of SQL, SQL Server, .NET, Visual Basic, and JavaScript.
  • Ability to prototype and design user-interface solutions and use tools for wireframing and prototyping.
  • Knowledge of business systems analysis methodologies and ability to develop analysis artifacts.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with diverse groups.
  • Effective oral communication skills for representing the unit and writing proposals and documentation.
