The Business Systems Analyst I plays a crucial role in the documentation, installation, analysis, and maintenance of operating systems utilized for the business functions of the assigned area within the Financial Aid department at The University of Alabama. This position is responsible for providing technical support and training to users regarding system software and utilities, acting as a subject matter expert for the systems in use. The analyst serves as a liaison to the central Office of Information Technology (OIT) to address advanced support needs, ensuring that the systems operate efficiently and effectively to meet the needs of the department. In this role, the Business Systems Analyst I will work closely with the Banner student system and other technologies and solutions employed by the university and the US Department of Education. The analyst will perform complex computer programming tasks under the general supervision of a senior information technology leader within the Student Financial Aid division. Responsibilities include providing technology support to staff, fulfilling data requests using ARGOS, Job Submission, and other report development tools, and assisting in the development and writing of financial aid rules and population selections. Additionally, the analyst will be tasked with developing, testing, and maintaining automated financial aid processing solutions and Banner workflows. This includes maintaining a comprehensive inventory of all automated processes, jobs, and reports related to Financial Aid, along with their schedules, including Automic process flows and over 1000 Automic jobs. The role also involves executing automated phone call services and email communications for students, parents, and alumni using RAVE ALERT software, as well as producing reports for follow-up and statistical data. The analyst will provide necessary reporting data required by federal and state agencies, including the Fiscal Operations Report, which details expenditures from the previous year, and other surveys and data requests such as the Common Data Set, UA Factbook, and Peterson Survey.
