About the position

The Business Systems Analyst II at AmTrust is responsible for eliciting, analyzing, validating, specifying, verifying, and managing the needs of project stakeholders, including customers and end users. This role serves as a liaison between the customer community and the software development team, facilitating discussions to gather and confirm functional requirements. The BSA works closely with Power BI developers and Data Engineers to deliver reporting and data solutions, participating throughout the software development life cycle and ensuring successful solution delivery. The position involves ongoing prioritization of the product backlog and ensuring customer satisfaction through effective communication and collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Provide status to team leads, project managers, and delivery managers.
  • Act as a primary liaison between users and Power BI and Data Engineers teams.
  • Communicate and interact with appropriate areas on changes and enhancements that may impact data, workflow, and functionality.
  • Participate in the implementation of the BSA Center of Excellence Services, Standards, and Development.
  • Provide guidance to less experienced team members.
  • Analyze and identify sources of reporting/data problems and work with Power BI and Data Engineers to resolve them.
  • Conduct preliminary analysis to determine sources of discrepancies between actual and expected results.
  • Plan, document, evaluate, and track results to ensure proper operation and freedom from defects.
  • Troubleshoot reporting/data problems and coordinate resolution with development staff.
  • Ensure internal product stakeholders' needs/expectations are met and promote transparency through agile practices.
  • Participate in demand and steering committees to assist with analysis and sizing of business work requests.
  • Collect and define requirements, translate them into functional design documents, and participate in technical design, test planning, and user documentation processes.
  • Create mock-ups, wireframes, and other documents to support functional requirements and aid in sponsor sign-off.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for assigned business domains and systems.
  • Work on projects or assist other BSAs on larger/complex projects and strategic efforts.
  • Collaborate closely with Architects, Developers, Quality Assurance, and end users to ensure developed functionality meets requirements.
  • Analyze business processes, plan, develop, implement, and support new or existing applications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree or equivalent business experience required.
  • 3+ years of experience as a Business Systems Analyst or equivalent position in the Property & Casualty insurance industry.
  • Good working knowledge of core business analysis practices and utilization of various techniques.
  • Successful elicitation, prioritization, documentation, and organization of requirements.
  • Ability to document and analyze business and system processes.
  • Ability to provide recommendations for business and/or system processes.
  • Effective requirement estimation skills.
  • Experience with full SDLC methodology including requirements, design, testing, and support in an agile environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both business and technical staff and convey complex ideas both verbally and in written form.
  • Flexible team player who can work in a fast-paced environment where ambiguity exists and priorities are subject to change.
  • Ability to successfully collaborate with all Project Sponsors/Governance, Core Project & Delivery Team participants.
  • Ability to share knowledge and train others.
  • Ability to multi-task and work on several projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently as well as effectively on medium to large projects.
  • Demonstration of timely delivery of projects.
  • Ability to professionally manage challenging situations.
  • Proficiency in Word and Excel.
