About the position

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Business Systems Analyst II for the Office of Information Technology (OIT). This position plays a crucial role in the functional administration of the Oracle ERP Cloud system, which is essential for the financial operations of the university. The Business Systems Analyst II will be responsible for a variety of tasks including the design, testing, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, updates, and end-user support of both automated and manual financial accounting systems. This role requires a deep understanding of complex financial system needs and the ability to create a blueprint that aligns business requirements with system capabilities. The analyst will independently develop and implement innovative solutions to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of financial processes. In addition to the core responsibilities, the Business Systems Analyst II will be tasked with configuring financial system modules to optimize the Oracle ERP Cloud. This includes developing, updating, and implementing complex sub-ledger accounting (SLA) rules to ensure accurate accounting between Sub-Ledgers and the General Ledger. The analyst will also maintain internal tracking systems, such as Jira, to document configuration changes, test results, and approvals for production migration. Furthermore, the position involves researching and evaluating the need for potential new modules or upgrades, providing recommendations to improve business processes, and collaborating with various departments to ensure seamless data integration across modules. The role requires providing timely end-user support, tracking issues, and communicating resolutions effectively. The Business Systems Analyst II will work closely with university-wide end-user committees to adapt to evolving business needs and financial system changes, ensuring that the university's financial operations are supported by robust and efficient systems.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate business requirements and work with university-wide end-user committees to determine solutions as business needs evolve and financial systems change.
  • Configure financial system modules to optimize all aspects of the Oracle ERP Cloud, including developing, updating, and implementing complex sub-ledger accounting (SLA) rules for accurate accounting between Sub-Ledgers and General Ledger.
  • Produce and maintain general configurations such as banks, bank branches, payment document numbers, profile options, and transaction codes for Cash Management.
  • Maintain internal tracking systems (e.g., Jira) to notate any configuration changes, test results, and approvals for production migration.
  • Research and evaluate the need for potential new and/or additional modules, applications, or upgrades and provide recommendations to help improve business processes.
  • Evaluate and test Oracle monthly patches, quarterly and semi-annual upgrades for overall functionality with a concentration on configurations.
  • Collaborate with staff from various departments, including Procurement, Accounts Payable, Expense Reporting, Grant & Contract Accounting, Payroll, and Student Financial Services to ensure data flows from one module to another as expected via system integration.
  • Provide timely end-user support, track issues, and communicate resolutions to end users.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
  • A minimum of five (5) years relevant technical or business/industry work experience is required.
  • In-depth knowledge of business strategy and operations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong client relationship management skills.
  • Ability to develop quality functional and technical documentation.
  • Demonstrated excellent oral/written communications skills and interpersonal skills, and capable of functioning effectively in a team environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous experience with configuration, administration, and support of DocuSign, Perceptive Content, and Banner is highly preferred.
