About the position

The Business Systems Analyst III plays a crucial role in defining systems scope and objectives based on user needs and business requirements. This position involves analyzing business and user needs, documenting requirements, and translating them into system specifications. The analyst will guide less-experienced team members and work at a high technical level to address complex problems while considering the implications of technology on the business environment. This role is hybrid, requiring in-office presence two days a week in either Walnut Creek, CA or Phoenix, AZ.

Responsibilities

  • Formulates and defines systems scope and objectives based on user needs and business requirements.
  • Determines priorities and schedules for system-related work for assigned applications/systems/processes.
  • Identifies business unit needs, risks, and resource constraints, and develops communication content for system changes.
  • Obtains and creates estimates of development and testing hours for proposed projects.
  • Negotiates with internal client groups and stakeholders to schedule and perform work.
  • Provides subject matter expertise on applications and systems to resolve processing/reporting problems.
  • Plans, manages, and executes testing of application and system changes at key development phases.
  • Coordinates work with external vendors, end users, and IT professionals for valid testing.
  • Formulates solutions based on business needs across multiple systems and functional areas.
  • Presents solutions and recommendations to management.
  • Identifies field training needs and conducts training sessions.
  • Develops complex reports that compile data from multiple applications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related area or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of business systems analysis experience.
  • Strong analytical and writing skills.
  • Knowledge of structured testing methodology and business unit operations.
  • Basic knowledge of business or systems analysis tools such as spreadsheets and databases.
  • Ability to understand data relationships among various systems.
  • Working knowledge of automated testing tools and test management applications.
  • Expert knowledge of automated testing tools and defect management tools.
