About the position

We are Athene, a leading retirement services company dedicated to helping individuals and institutions fund their retirement needs. As a Business Systems Analyst III, you will play a crucial role in our organization by eliciting, analyzing, and documenting the business and technical needs of various projects. These projects will span multiple departments and will vary in complexity, risk, and regulatory requirements. Your primary responsibility will be to lead the analysis efforts for assigned projects, coordinating the work of other business system analysts and acting as a liaison between business and IT partners. In this role, you will support medium to large projects that involve significant risk and require collaboration across various departments. You will facilitate interviews with both business and technology teams to gather comprehensive needs and identify potential interdependencies. Partnering with Product Owners, you will identify requirements for system and process enhancements, translating user requirements and acceptance criteria into user stories for development teams. Your analytical skills will be essential as you assess business problems and propose creative solutions, while also facilitating and prioritizing business process redesigns to improve outcomes. You will be expected to embrace change and guide others through transitions, fostering relationships across multiple business and technology areas. Your ability to communicate effectively and tailor messages to different audiences will be key in increasing awareness of best practices and improving business capabilities. This position reports directly to the Manager of Software Development, and you will be instrumental in driving projects forward and ensuring alignment with organizational goals.

Responsibilities

  • Elicit, analyze, and document business and technical needs of projects.
  • Lead analysis efforts for assigned projects and coordinate the work of other business system analysts.
  • Facilitate interviews with business and technology departments to gather comprehensive needs and identify interdependencies.
  • Partner with Product Owners to identify requirements for system and process enhancements.
  • Gather user requirements and acceptance criteria and translate them into user stories for development teams.
  • Analyze business problems and recommend creative solutions.
  • Facilitate, prioritize, and propose business process redesigns to improve results.
  • Embrace change and guide others through transitions, handling conflict as necessary.
  • Foster relationships across multiple business and technology areas.
  • Increase awareness of best practices to improve business capabilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years of Business System Analysis experience within an Agile framework.
  • Proficient in business analysis concepts such as business process modeling (BPM), context diagrams, use cases, and user stories.
  • Experience with resource tools to manage project resource demand.
  • Proficiency in requirements elicitation, project scoping, requirements analysis, and project planning activities.
  • Solid understanding of Project Management and SDLC processes, particularly Agile/iterative approaches like Scrum and Kanban.
  • BABOK certification preferred.
