About the position

The Business Systems Analyst - Operations at CooperVision plays a crucial role in supporting the warehouse management system within the distribution center. This position involves collaborating with key system users to optimize and enhance system performance, providing expertise in distribution and packaging systems, and coordinating or leading system change efforts. The analyst will troubleshoot critical production issues and ensure that the systems are functioning effectively to meet operational needs. In this role, the analyst will be responsible for solution definition and documentation, which includes collecting and documenting user and business processes, as well as requirements for solutions. The analyst will participate in collaboration with local operations teams to document functional and systematic process flows. They will evaluate local and global system development proposals and provide analysis to local management regarding potential impacts. Additionally, the analyst will research, communicate, and demonstrate best practice opportunities for the organization, enabling key decision-makers to leverage these practices as a strategic advantage. Project execution is another key responsibility, where the analyst will lead local projects for software changes and system configuration. They will manage project plans, articulate roles, project goals, and timelines, and adhere to project standards defined by the project manager. The analyst will also plan and lead testing, implementation, training, support, and documentation activities for local projects, while providing reporting to local management on project progress and issues. The analyst will develop use cases and testing/validation scenarios as part of functional requirements for software or system configuration changes. They will prepare detailed testing scripts based on final design documents and execute test plans, documenting all test results using appropriate company methodology. Furthermore, the analyst will act as second-tier production support for system issues, ensuring effective communication and cooperation with the end-user community across the regional area. The working environment for this position will be a mix of office and warehouse settings, with exposure to noise from packaging and distribution machinery. The analyst must adhere to facility dress codes and be prepared for fluctuating temperatures in the warehouse. Occasional late and weekend hours may be required for on-call support, and travel is expected to be between 10% to 20% based on project requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required or a combination of education and experience resulting in a sound understanding of job responsibilities.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience working directly in at least one major operational area such as Distribution, Packaging/Manufacturing, Supply-Chain, or Planning.
  • 3 years of project management experience.
  • 3 years of experience with SQL.
  • 3 years of experience with warehouse management systems.
  • 3 years of experience with test cases.
  • Practical working knowledge of logistics processes and systems in several major functional areas.
  • High level of IT literacy - concepts and terminology.
  • Competence with all major Office applications including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Visio.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with logistics IT including WMS, WCS, and interfaces to ERP systems.
  • Experience with automation systems such as Red Prairie - JDA, Oracle, or Baan.
  • Understanding of the relationship between business processes and ERP systems.
