About the position

The Business Systems Analyst for Payroll & Payroll Accounting at UCSF plays a crucial role in the Systems Support Unit of the Payroll Services Department. This position is responsible for the implementation and maintenance of key systems such as Oracle Cloud ERP for HCM and Finance, UCPath, and the UKG Timekeeping system. The analyst will support various functional areas including payroll, benefits, absence management, and general ledger, while also analyzing business processes and developing innovative solutions to enhance system efficiency. The role requires strong analytical skills, problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to lead cross-functional teams to address complex business issues.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze large-scale business processes and identify challenges.
  • Develop innovative solutions utilizing computer systems and information flow.
  • Create specifications to meet system requirements and validate them against organizational needs.
  • Design automated systems and user interfaces, and plan unit integration and acceptance testing.
  • Resolve a wide range of business process issues from moderate to complex in scope.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to address and solve complex business or system issues.

Requirements

  • BA or BS degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, IT, or related field.
  • 3+ years of directly related experience in systems analysis.
  • Proficiency in SQL or similar query tools for reporting and analysis.
  • Full working knowledge of MS Suite (Access, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of time and attendance systems, payroll, absence management, and general ledger.
  • Ability to provide sophisticated functional systems analysis within payroll and timekeeping domains.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to synthesize findings.

Nice-to-haves

  • Graduate degree (MBA/MPA).
  • PMP Certification.
  • CPP Certification.
  • Knowledge of University accounting, financial, and HR policies.
  • Experience with Oracle Cloud HCM and Finance, PeopleSoft HCM, and UKG timekeeping.
