About the position

The Business Systems Analyst position at Spectraforce Technologies is a critical role that involves defining customer needs in both technical and business contexts. The analyst will ensure that the proposed technical and business solutions align with the customer's objectives for the work effort. This role requires a strong understanding of the supported business unit's concepts and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences. The analyst will be responsible for eliciting and documenting user requirements to meet business objectives, guiding technical and customer departments in the development of systems that support business solutions, and facilitating knowledge transfer about the business unit's direction to others who support them. In this position, the analyst will also ensure the accurate deployment of solutions by reviewing problem logs, assisting with test plans and test matrices, and engaging in other analysis activities. The role includes providing input on the business direction for system changes, validating the business need for solutions to business problems, and assisting in the development and documentation of training materials. Mentoring or training less experienced staff is also a key responsibility, ensuring that knowledge and skills are passed on within the team. The work environment is fast-paced and high-demand, often requiring the analyst to work against mandated deadlines. The ability to prioritize tasks effectively and delegate when necessary is essential to balance multiple high-priority tasks. The analyst will work in a multi-platformed environment that may require action and response 24/7 to support the technical business needs of the customer.

Responsibilities

  • Define customer needs in technical and business contexts.
  • Ensure proposed technical and business solutions meet customer objectives.
  • Provide guidance with planning and prioritization of business support-related activities.
  • Elicit and document user requirements to meet a business objective.
  • Identify and validate requirements and organize information into a logical document.
  • Guide both technical and customer departments in the development of systems that support business solutions.
  • Facilitate the transfer of knowledge about the direction of the business units to others who support them.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or other job-related field, or 4 years of job-related work experience, or 2 years of job-related experience plus an associate's degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or other job-related degree.
  • 4 years of IT business analysis experience.
  • Demonstrated understanding of concepts of the supported business unit.
  • Basic knowledge of standard industry practices.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of procedures for the business unit.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
  • Understanding of how IT affects an organization and ability to link it to business processes.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Good conceptual skills.
  • Ability to read and comment on test plans and test matrices, project plans, and scope and design documents.

Nice-to-haves

  • Proficient in Visio and Excel.
  • Experience with Agile and Waterfall methodology.
  • SAFe Scaled Agile Certification.
  • CBAP and/or demonstrated continuous learning in the Business Analysis profession.
