About the position

The Business Systems Analyst position at Highmark Health is a critical role that supports various analytical aspects of the application product life cycle within a specific sub-product scope. The incumbent will utilize their judgment and discretion to collaborate with customers to understand their capability needs, gather project specifications, and create business cases along with cost sheet analyses. This role involves translating high-level business needs into detailed requirements for new capabilities, as well as managing change requests and enhancements for existing capabilities. The analyst will also analyze data to identify business problems, trends, or opportunities for process improvements, create and execute test cases, and provide root cause analysis along with corrective action plans. Ensuring the delivery of customer needs and maintaining quality delivery is paramount in this position. In addition to these responsibilities, the Business Systems Analyst will work closely with customers, software engineers, architects, capability managers, and other team members to capture capability needs and drive quality business solutions. This includes creating and maintaining deliverables such as business visions, requirements, and user interface designs tailored to different clients. The analyst will participate in the full software development life cycle, actively engaging in Agile scrum teams in various roles, including Scrum Master, Business Technical Analyst, User Interface Designer, Capability Manager, or Tester, depending on experience and project needs. The role also requires supporting various aspects of requirements testing, including developing testing plans, scenarios, documentation, and defect management to minimize production defects. Effective communication with team members, customers, partners, and management is essential, as the analyst will assist with or conduct requirement walkthroughs and sprint reviews, report project status, enable vendor solutions, and provide accurate documentation throughout the project lifecycle. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Work with customers, Software Engineers, Architects, Capability Managers, and other team members to capture capability needs and drive quality business solutions.
  • Create and maintain deliverables such as business vision, requirements, and user interface design tailored to different clients.
  • Participate in the full software development life cycle by actively participating on Agile scrum teams in various roles, including Scrum Master, Business Technical Analyst, User Interface Designer, Capability Manager, or Tester.
  • Support various aspects of requirements testing to ensure minimal production defects are realized and analyze results tying back to customer impacts.
  • Ensure compliance for required standards and obtain all necessary approvals throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Effectively communicate with team members, customers, partners, and management, including conducting requirement walkthroughs and sprint reviews, and reporting project status.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Management, Information Systems, or closely related field.
  • 3 - 5 years in IS/IT.
