About the position

The Business Travel Sales Manager (BTSM) is responsible for driving revenue growth by soliciting new and existing accounts in the business transient market. This role involves managing corporate business travel sales, developing relationships with key clients, and executing marketing strategies to exceed sales quotas. The BTSM will also handle government and FIT market segments, ensuring high standards of customer service and effective communication with clients and hotel operations.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver on the promise of Sonesta Service in all interactions with guests and clients.
  • Manage Corporate Business Travel Sales across various industries.
  • Sell guest rooms and services to transient market customers through corporate accounts, consortia, national accounts, travel agencies, and individual corporate travel.
  • Focus on FIT and Wholesale accounts for the hotel through Sonesta national accounts and individual travel accounts.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key clients to produce repeat business and identify new accounts.
  • Execute action plans against existing and new target accounts to achieve and exceed sales quotas.
  • Prospect and penetrate new accounts for acquisition through various channels.
  • Convert new accounts into loyal accounts.
  • Manage the hotel's RFP process and ensure accuracy of content in RFP tools such as Lanyon and Sabre.
  • Represent the hotel at trade shows, conventions, and community events.
  • Solicit, negotiate, and book new and repeat business to maximize revenue and achieve budgeted transient revenue goals.
  • Execute a territorial marketing strategy to capture maximum revenue and meet sales goals.
  • Increase visibility of the hotel in the transient market and generate new business.
  • Prepare and present effective status and month-end reports, maintaining organized documentation.
  • Work as a team member with sales and catering staff and maintain knowledge of corporate and hotel procedures.

Requirements

  • Previous background in the hospitality industry preferred.
  • Fluent in English; other languages beneficial.
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Mathematical skills including budgeting, profit/loss concepts, percentages, and variances.
  • Problem-solving, reasoning, motivating, organizational, and training abilities.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and Opera systems preferred.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Ability to travel, including some overnight travel.
