About the position

As a Business Unit Manager for Sanitation & Operations at Conagra Brands, you will play a pivotal role in fostering a culture of open and honest dialogue among team members, emphasizing the value of their input and engagement in enhancing performance. Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, your primary responsibility will be to oversee the 3rd Shift operation, with a significant focus on the Sanitation process, which will constitute approximately 70% of your nightly duties. You will be tasked with inspecting materials, equipment, and the plant to ensure compliance with federal and state sanitation laws as well as internal plant standards. In this role, you will collaborate closely with management and production personnel to address sanitation issues, recommending improvements in equipment, plant layout, lighting, ventilation, and work practices to elevate sanitation standards. You will also be responsible for compiling reports on regular inspections, sanitation violations, and corrective actions taken to address deficiencies. Your leadership will extend to supporting employee engagement and development initiatives aimed at maximizing safety, quality, and productivity within the plant. Additionally, you will manage the Sanitation budget, including capital expenditures and cost management, while ensuring regulatory compliance with OSHA, EPA, USDA, FDA, FLSA, EEO, OFCCP, and NLRB standards. You will oversee Plant Food Safety & Quality, ensuring that all quality standards, specifications, and policies are met, while driving continuous improvement processes and collaborating with Research and Development on product implementation. Your role will also involve promoting diversity and positive community relations, fostering a culture of accountability regarding employee and product quality and safety, and working with Human Resources to maintain a positive working environment through effective employee relations processes.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a culture based on open and honest dialogue and involvement of all team members.
  • Provide direct oversight for the 3rd Shift operation, focusing on production supervisors and the Sanitation process.
  • Inspect materials, equipment, and plant for conformity to federal and state sanitation laws and plant standards.
  • Confer with management and production personnel on sanitation problems and recommend improvements.
  • Compile required reports regarding regular inspections, sanitation violations, and corrective actions taken.
  • Support employee engagement and development to maximize safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Provide leadership for assessing and enhancing plant capabilities.
  • Manage the Sanitation budget including capital expenditures and cost management.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance including OSHA, EPA, USDA, FDA, FLSA, EEO, OFCCP, and NLRB.
  • Oversee Plant Food Safety & Quality, ensuring all quality standards and policies are met.
  • Drive continuous improvement processes and collaborate with Research and Development on product implementation.
  • Promote diversity and positive community involvement and relations.
  • Foster a culture of accountability in employee and product quality and safety.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources to create employee relations processes.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of manufacturing experience including sanitation required.
  • Minimum 3 years in a production supervision or production management role in a plant required.
  • Union experience preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Business, Industrial Management, Engineering, Food Science, Management, Operations, or Biology.
  • Manufacturing experience in the chemical or related USDA/FDA industry.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience required.
  • Bi-lingual (Spanish/English) capability a plus.
  • Business, analytical, and financial skills required.
