About the position

The Buyer - Hardware role at Ace Hardware is a pivotal position responsible for overseeing the assortment strategy, operations development, and execution for the Fasteners/Keys category within both B2C and B2B customer segments. This role requires a deep understanding of the competitive marketplace and trends, enabling the Buyer to identify opportunities for Ace retailers and EJD customers to enhance their growth through a differentiated assortment and optimized operational practices. The Buyer will lead initiatives that drive the action plan from ideation through to retail execution, ensuring that the strategies align with the overall business objectives of Ace Hardware. In this role, the Buyer will develop and continuously improve Ace's go-to-market strategy for the Fasteners/Keys category. This includes controlling the omni-channel inbound product strategy and collaborating cross-functionally with teams such as eCommerce, International, EJD, and RSCs to achieve desired outbound results. The Buyer will be accountable for all aspects of the category strategy, which encompasses product selection, pricing, placement, promotion, and training. The ability to articulate a clear strategic plan and drive it to execution is essential for success in this position. The Buyer will also create opportunities for Ace retailers and wholesale customers to increase their bottom-line profits by lowering costs, driving top-line sales, and delivering consumer-relevant differentiated assortments. This role is not just about managing products; it is about leading teams, building new programs, and ensuring that the vision for the Fasteners/Keys category is realized effectively across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and improve Ace's go-to-market strategy for the Fasteners/Keys category.
  • Provide leadership by understanding product, competitive landscape, consumer demands, and industry trends.
  • Control the omni-channel inbound product strategy and collaborate cross-functionally to deliver results.
  • Accountable for all aspects of the category strategy including product, pricing, place/environment, promotion, and training.
  • Articulate a clear strategic plan and drive it to execution.
  • Create opportunities for Ace retailers and wholesale customers to grow bottom-line profits.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of business experience
  • 3+ years managing product categories
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Understanding of financial measures impacting the corporation
  • Strong decision-making skills
  • Highly creative, flexible, and adaptable with good follow-through
  • Versatility to shift category responsibility
  • Proven ability to multi-task projects and meet deadlines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of Ad-hoc reporting tools
  • Ability to travel 25%
