Amentum is seeking a Buyer III, Supply Chain Strategy and Growth to join our Team! This position is CONUS remote with minimal travel requirements. Under general direction, the Buyer III will source a high volume and variety of materials, supplies, and services to support proposals. US Citizenship is required, and this position is approved for Remote-Telework. The Buyer III will support the Business Development group in obtaining pricing for proposal efforts, establishing Blanket Purchase Agreements when suitable for recurring material requirements, and will be available to support transitions of new prime contracts for Amentum. This role will assist with the development of procurement strategy, specific supplier strategies, and bid details for new business opportunities. The position is expected to have proposal support experience and be comfortable working in a dynamic and demanding environment. Essential responsibilities include applying sound procurement techniques to support acquisition planning, acquisition strategies, and subsequent acquisition of materials and simple services. The Buyer III will maintain a working knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulations and standard commercial procurement practices, develop sourcing lists for various commodities to support the development of requests for information (RFIs), quotations (RFQs), proposals (RFPs), and invitations to bid, and complete Bills of Materials (BoMs) in coordination with pricing and business development. Additionally, the Buyer III will qualify potential suppliers, review solicitation responses, and perform relevant analyses to include price and cost, Statement of Work compliance, delivery terms, payment terms, and other terms and conditions of the procurement. The Buyer III will serve as a business advisor to internal customers, providing alternative solutions to requested items when such solutions would provide a benefit to the Company, such as enhanced performance, cost savings, or positive schedule impact. Negotiation of all aspects of procurements, including price, payment and delivery terms, quality requirements, and other factors with suppliers to achieve the best value procurement possible is also a key responsibility. The role requires coordination of the vetting of potential partners following standard practices and ensuring suppliers meet the minimum requirements of being an approved supplier. The Buyer III will follow guidance from Global Supply Chain, Business Development, and Pricing management teams to obtain pricing, past performance, and technical information from suppliers for Amentum proposals. Furthermore, the Buyer III will assist in the development of databases and/or tools that access historical pricing and SOWs to expedite the procurement process, leverage best practices, and provide guidance on prioritizing efforts to shape competitive bid and overall procurement strategy. The position requires the ability to listen, diagnose, and work in a team environment to create solutions, along with effective teambuilding and negotiation skills to influence stakeholders with competing interests while maintaining compliance. The Buyer III will perform all other position-related duties as assigned or requested.
