About the position

The Material/Inventory Manager at Limex Sicar Farms is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing the procurement of materials, supplies, and equipment essential for the business operations. This position requires a proactive individual who can negotiate effectively with suppliers, research potential item selections, and maintain an accurate inventory of current products. The manager will develop a robust system for monitoring purchase orders and will be responsible for delivering weekly purchase order reports to supervisors, detailing the invoice numbers for all closed orders. In collaboration with the management team, the Material/Inventory Manager ensures that all deliveries meet the assigned orders and promptly reports any back-ordered or missing products. This role also involves assisting the Supply Chain Manager in maintaining optimal inventory levels and materials on a regular basis. Effective communication with the management team is crucial to ensure that all orders are accurate and meet the company's standards. The responsibilities extend to purchasing assigned items at the best prices from reliable sources while adhering to established quality and quantity standards. The manager will assess key markets and supplier performance, explore new entrants and technologies, and maintain harmonious relationships with vendors to enhance the company's reputation. Additionally, the role includes following up on orders to ensure timely delivery, resolving discrepancies in pricing and quantities, and advising management on improvements in materials and equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Purchases assigned items at the best price from reliable sources, following established standards for quality, quantity, and other factory requirements of the business.
  • Assists in assessing key markets and performance of suppliers, exploring new entrants and new technology.
  • Establishes and maintains a harmonious relationship with vendors to enhance the performance and reputation of the company.
  • Follows up and expedites orders to obtain proper, on-time delivery.
  • Assists with back orders and resolves pricing and quantity discrepancies.
  • Advises management of improvements on standard materials and equipment, price changes, marketing changes, and source changes.
  • Manages interpersonal relationships with suppliers.
  • Supports the company's initiatives for selecting minority-owned and small disadvantaged suppliers.
  • Investigates new sources of supply for assigned purchased materials.
  • Liaises with suppliers for special equipment configurations as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 3-5 years of supply chain experience.
  • Supply and/or Demand planning experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience in purchasing and demand planning desired.
  • Packaging and/or Consumer Packaged Goods Industry experience preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work well under pressure with limited supervision and make immediate value-based decisions.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English.
  • Hands-on approach, willing to be on the operation floor for at least 50% of the time.
  • Computer literate in spreadsheet and word applications.

Nice-to-haves

  • Ability to commute to McAllen, TX 78503 (required).
  • Willingness to relocate to McAllen, TX 78503 before starting work (required).
