About the position

The Buyer/Planner position at IDEX Corporation is an entry to intermediate-level role within the supply chain team, primarily focused on procuring components and maintaining inventory to meet production schedules. The role involves managing purchasing functions, negotiating costs, and ensuring effective communication with internal and external stakeholders to support business objectives.

Responsibilities

• Own all functions of the supply chain for assigned business segment, including issuing purchase orders and managing delivery receipts.
• Negotiate annual pricing to reduce purchasing costs by $50k by the end of the year.
• Utilize the 80/20 concept of Plan For Every Part (PFEP) to determine safety stock levels and implement inventory replenishment plans.
• Lead weekly production meetings and communicate with sales and production to maintain a 98% on-time delivery (OTD) to top customers.
• Maintain and own the sales, inventory & operations planning (SIOP) process for designated key markets.
• Expedite parts as needed to support customer demand.
• Monitor metrics on Open POs, Receipts, and Inventory Turns, taking action to optimize levels.
• Communicate with vendors on performance and escalate significant supply chain risks or opportunities.
• Contribute to cycle counting and yearly physical inventory processes.
• Complete unique projects as needed.

Requirements

• 5 years of relevant experience in purchasing, sourcing, or finance required.
• Bachelor's degree from a four-year university or equivalent experience.
• Basic skills in Microsoft Excel and a working knowledge of MS Word and MS Outlook.
• Basic knowledge of ERP Systems (J.D. Edwards preferred).
• Solid analytic and mathematical capabilities.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a larger team.
