About the position

The Buyer/Purchasing Agent is responsible for creating purchase orders and requisitions based on stakeholder requests and system requirements. This role involves using ERP systems to manage part demand and supply plans, ensuring effective communication regarding order status, and building strong relationships with both internal stakeholders and external suppliers. The position requires negotiation skills for delivery, pricing, and payment terms, and contributes to departmental goals related to on-time delivery and cost savings. The Buyer/Purchasing Agent plays a vital role in the Supply Chain, supporting various company projects and activities.

Responsibilities

  • Create purchase orders or requisitions in response to stakeholder requests.
  • Use ERP systems to understand part demand and create effective supply plans.
  • Communicate order status and exceptions to fulfillment needs promptly.
  • Establish positive relationships with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
  • Negotiate delivery, pricing, and payment terms as needed.
  • Contribute to departmental on-time delivery goals and cost savings initiatives.
  • Collaborate with internal customers to prepare and execute agreements.
  • Provide knowledge and training on procurement and contracting practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or Marketing preferred.
  • 3 years of related purchasing or contract administration experience.
  • Knowledge of Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) and applicable contract law.
  • Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) or Certified Professional Contract Manager (CPCM) desired.
  • Broad knowledge of contracting and purchasing strategies for various services and materials.
  • Experience in negotiation, purchasing, inventory management, and contract administration.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with ERP systems, preferably Oracle.
  • 5 or more years of related purchasing or contract administration experience for Sr. Buyer role.
  • Advanced supply chain background.
  • Training in dispute resolution and resource management.
