About the position

The Buyer at Waaree Solar Americas is responsible for the efficient procurement of materials and components necessary for solar panel manufacturing. This role involves sourcing high-quality materials at competitive prices, negotiating contracts with suppliers, and maintaining strong relationships to ensure timely delivery and adherence to quality standards. The position requires a solid understanding of the solar panel manufacturing process, market trends, and supply chain management principles.

Responsibilities

• Procures raw materials, components, consumables, services, and equipment required for solar panel manufacturing, ensuring cost-effectiveness, quality, and timely delivery.
• Researches and identifies potential suppliers/vendors, evaluates their capabilities, and negotiates contracts and terms to secure favorable pricing and terms.
• Monitors market trends, supplier performance, and industry developments to anticipate changes in supply chain dynamics and proactively address potential challenges.
• Collaborates with internal stakeholders, including production, engineering, and quality assurance teams, to ensure alignment on procurement requirements and specifications.
• Develops and maintains strong relationships with suppliers/vendors to facilitate effective communication, resolve issues, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Analyzes procurement data, including pricing trends, lead times, and supplier performance metrics, to optimize purchasing strategies and identify opportunities for cost savings.
• Coordinates with logistics and warehouse teams to manage inventory levels, minimize stockouts, and streamline the flow of materials within the supply chain.
• Ensures compliance with relevant regulations, industry standards, and company policies, particularly regarding environmental sustainability and ethical sourcing practices.
• Tracks monthly cost savings and supply shortages.
• Supervises suppliers' performance in the domain of lead-time, reactivity, reliability, and flexibility.
• Manages material cost budget, variance, obsolescence, compliance issues, and cost reduction processes.
• Collaborates with internal teams to develop capabilities in our suppliers.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business administration, engineering, or a related field.
• Proven experience in procurement, sourcing, or supply chain management, preferably within the solar energy or renewable energy industry.
• Experience with OEM spare part procurement.
• Strong negotiation skills with the ability to drive cost savings and favorable terms through effective vendor management.
• Excellent analytical abilities with proficiency in data analysis tools and techniques.
• Knowledge of solar panel manufacturing processes, materials, and industry suppliers/vendors.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment and effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
• Familiarity with regulatory requirements and general accounting standards relevant to procurement and supply chain management in the renewable energy sector.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• SAP experience is a plus.
