About the position

As a Buyer at Grenzebach, you will play a crucial role in executing our purchasing strategy, which is essential for maintaining the high standards of quality and efficiency that our company is known for. Your primary responsibility will be to manage supplier performance, ensuring that quality, delivery reliability, and target costs are met consistently. You will be expected to communicate effectively with the Service department regarding forecasted lead times for purchased parts, as well as confirmed delivery dates for customer order acknowledgements. This role requires daily tracking and expediting of purchased parts to ensure on-time delivery, which is critical for our operations and customer satisfaction. In addition to managing supplier relationships, you will be responsible for executing purchasing strategies for various categories of materials, taking into account the specific requirements of the Service department. You will follow the guidelines set forth in our framework contracts and adhere to our global purchasing processes and methods. Monitoring target costs for purchasing will be a key aspect of your role, and you will need to develop and implement measures to meet these targets effectively. Collaboration is essential in this position, as you will work closely with the logistics team to ensure timely deliveries of parts to our customers. Additionally, you will partner with the local quality management team to select outside vendors that align with our quality standards. Your ability to communicate effectively and manage relationships with suppliers and internal teams will be vital to your success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Execution of purchasing strategy based on make-or-buy strategy
  • Monitor supplier performance including quality, delivery reliability, and target costs
  • Communicate forecasted purchased parts lead times to the Service department
  • Confirm delivery dates for customer order acknowledgements to the Service department
  • Daily tracking and expediting of purchased parts to ensure on-time delivery
  • Execute purchasing strategy for categories of material considering service department requirements
  • Follow guidelines of framework contracts
  • Adhere to global guidelines and requirements for purchasing processes and methods
  • Monitor target costs for purchasing and develop measures to meet these targets
  • Communicate effectively with logistics team to ensure timely parts deliveries
  • Collaborate with local quality management team to select outside vendors

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business or engineering or applicable purchasing experience in an electro/mechanical manufacturing environment is required
  • CPM certification is a plus
