About the position

The Buyer position involves procuring goods, services, and equipment to support the operational needs of various departments within the healthcare industry. This role requires regular interaction with departments to understand their needs and manage supplier relationships effectively. It is a contract-to-hire opportunity based in Menands, New York.

Responsibilities

• Accurate and timely creation and issuance of Purchase Orders using the Electronic Resource Platform (ERP).
• Manage and expedite execution of priority and urgent order requests.
• Ensure all ordered goods and services are approved and sourced appropriately to ensure cost-effective procurement.
• Monitor and follow up on all open orders to verify delivery or update order status.
• Identify and resolve order issues such as backorders and discontinuations in a timely and organized manner.
• Establish and maintain constructive working relationships with departmental and supplier contacts.
• Respond to inquiries and requests for assistance professionally and timely.
• Review and resolve receiving and invoice exceptions accurately and promptly.
• Assist with resolution of receiving issues such as shortages or excess ordered quantity.
• Coordinate with supplier to adjust Purchase Order, or to coordinate return and receipt of credit.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a buyer/purchaser role
• Familiarity with accounting functions and accounts payable (AP) processes
• Knowledge of buying processes
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Proven ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting
• Good negotiation and vendor management skills
• Associates in appropriate field or 3-5 years experience in purchasing
